Dec 2019 Week 4

Happy New Year! Here is a recap from December 2019 Challenge:

Project #1

For this project, I was able to finish the denim blanket. I only needed one large minky fabric for the blanket and used 2 of the scraps to create a stuffed dog. In place of the last minky fabric, I will get rid of another fabric from my stash.

Project #2

I didn't get to the glow-in-the-dark candy wrapper painting at all. Honestly, at the time I was very eager to make this, but now, I don't feel very inclined to finishing it, so I will be donating the canvas and throwing out the candy wrappers.

Project #3

I was able to finish setting up for the new year and will be using it starting today.

Projects #4 and #5

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, the book "Wicked Fox" wasn't very interesting to me. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish "Lifespan" either since it was due in the middle of the month and someone had placed a hold on it so I couldn't renew it.

Project #6

I successfully finished the hat and scarf set!

Project #7

I am still working on this blanket. I just need to finish the border and then I can give it as a gift to one of my friends.

Project #8

I was able to finish both the candles on the left, but I am still working on the right one. In place of this candle, I have used up a lotion bottle.

Projects #9, #10, #11

I only started on the middle shirt and did not fully complete the skirt. But, since I started on it, I will continue it for the January challenge. In place of the other two shirts that I didn't start yet, I have two hats that I crocheted yesterday for two of my cousins.

Project #12

I was able to use up most of these t-shirts by making a t-shirt, reusable cotton pads with a pouch, and t-shirt yarn. The only scraps left over are from the sleeves and the printed image portion.

Decluttered

This is about 20 items.

Purchases
I did purchase 2 more items from Victoria Secret, a back scratcher, 2 pairs of aloe socks, and 7 coiled hair ties. Let's see, so that's 12 items, and I will need to declutter 60 items. (60-20 items from above is 40 items) From the previous post, I had a count of 440 items, but now with 60 more items to be decluttered, this makes my total to be 480 items on the dot. (The extra fabric scrap that I will be replacing for the minky fabric does not count in the 480 items)

What I Learned this Month
  • I cannot go into any stores without feeling tempted to buy something, even if it's something small.
  • Towards the end of the month, I lose steam on tracking my spendings and savings.
  • Things pop up in life, and sometimes it's better to not have so much on my plate that I need to get done. This way, I have the time to spend on the things that pop up in life.
  • It's okay to not feel like I have to sew all the time.
  • Since I was able to grow out my nails for four weeks for a wedding, I am confident that I can stick to a no-buy year for 2020.
