November 2020 Box Projects
I can’t believe it’s already been 3.5 weeks since my first post in October; it went by fast....and slow. Fast, because it’s already November! Slow, because the promise I made to not buy any more unnecessary items in that October post felt like it happened a long time ago!
Although...I have to be transparent and honest about my shopping this month, especially the plant purchase I made yesterday. I decided to make an exception for a White Bird of Paradise plant that I found at IKEA. Normally, I would have waited to buy this particular plant since it is very common and a lot of places sell them. However, the one that I purchased is a very special Bird of Paradise, in that it is variegated! From past experience with browsing through many online plant listings, I hardly see anyone sell a variegated BoP, let alone share theirs! I only heard of it from a Youtube video from the channel, Plant Pots & What-Nots, where Nicki shares her variegated plants and the variegated BoP was among them! I couldn't believe that I had actually stumbled across a variegated BoP. I checked the other BoPs in the store, but they didn't have any variegation on the leaves nor on the stems. This is how I knew that the one I purchased is variegated because the stem showed yellow and green stripes. This plant actually has two stalks, one variegated and the other just regular. I was and am still so excited! For just $19.99, which is a really good price for two stalks of BoP, along with the fact that one of the stalks is variegated, I just had to get it! (I know I made an exception this time, but I definitely cannot go to any stores that sell plants in the month of November)

For the month of November, I plan to continue, but mostly complete, a few projects. The first is the Minimalist game, a decluttering challenge where you declutter an item or items each day of the month. The number of items for each day depends on the date of the day. For example, on Day 1, I will declutter 1 item; on Day 2, I will declutter 2 items; on Day 3, I will declutter 3 items, and so forth. Since November has 30 days, that would be 465 items in total. That seems like a lot, right? But, believe it or not, there’s actually a lot more unused number of items in our spaces. I will continue to make weekly updates, and in addition to the other creative project updates, I will also include pictures of what I am decluttering from each day that week.
Personally, I definitely need to be brutal for this project. I’ve actually started on this project because 1) I couldn’t wait and 2) I wanted to get ahead start on this project so that I can post some of my items on Mercari to sell. If I can’t sell the items by the end of November, I will try to sell at Plato’s Closet, and if not, then I will donate the items.
As for the second and third projects, I will need to first complete the blue blanket by finishing the rest of the rows and working on the border. Then, I will need to complete that pink, white, and black blanket that I had almost finished last year by adding on the border as well. Obviously with it unfinished, I wasn’t able to give it to my friend, but I am determined to finish it this month and give it to her for the holidays.
For the fourth project, I will be finishing up the gray sweater.
For the fifth project, I will be reading the second book of The Archived series (apparently there may be a third book, but it hasn’t been completed yet)
And for the sixth project, I will be starting and completing the crochet planter pot that I didn't complete in October.
One thing that I am going to change for this month is my schedule. I will spread out my Software Engineering skill-building, projects, and job search across the entire week so that I will have the weekday evenings to wind down while working on my monthly projects. I will update on how that goes.
Anyways, thank you again for reading! I will see you in the next post.
